After an extended wait, I received news today that my 6th Great Grandfather, Felix Albright was just accepted as a NEW Patriot in the DAR database. I originally submitted this documentation in 2021 (and yes, it is now 2026!). The genealogists at Daughters of the American Revolution had quite a backlog of applicants to get through, so this took a while to get started. Once it was started, I received a note last year that there was inadequate proof that Felix’s son Henry Albright was in fact the correct Henry Albright in my lineage. As luck would have it there were FOUR Henry Albrights in the area of Pennsylvania at the same time and naturally three of the four married an Elizabeth.
After a lot of searching land, tax, probate, church and all the necessary records with the help of the DAR State team and our local registrar we were able to separate out all of the Henry and Elizabeth couples and provide certain proof that the proposed lineage was correct. At this point DAR does not accept DNA evidence for anything other than the first three generations of a family tree. While I have DNA from a great uncle to other members of the family of Felix, a paper trail was needed as a 6th great grandfather is much further back than three generations.
Felix Albright was born in Zurich, Switzerland and served from York County, PA and as a member of the York County Militia under Captain George Long in addition to paying a supply tax. We believe that his wife also paid the supply tax after his death in 1780, so with just a little bit of work I can submit his wife Anna Maria Dorothea as a female patriot. That would be my first female patriot!
I am super thankful for all of the DAR team assistance and am so thrilled to now have fourteen proven patriots with another four in the queue for approval – plus the option for adding Anna Maria Dorothea Albright which would then be 5 more added. My goal is to get over 20 proven patriots – I’m getting there!
