One of the pieces of the tree I’ve been working on here and there over time is the connection between Jacob/Jasper Phillips – my 3X Great Grandfather and the grandfather of my Great-Grandmother Marjorie Bayne Munter – and his presumed parents. A cousin put together a book on the Phillips family many years ago and in that book identifies Daniel Phillips and Clarissa Fuller as the parents of Jacob. We have a few bits and pieces of data here and there, but nothing that actually connects Jacob or his brother Daniel Melvin to the presumed Daniel and Clarissa.
I reached out to some professional researchers through American Ancestors and asked them to take a look at the resources they have avalable that are in addition to what I have been able to find online. So far they have looked through a number of records had have been unable to come to a conclusion on who Jacob’s parents likely are.
We have decided to do a continuation of the reasearch and utilize some DNA matches to see if that will help us narrow down the search. Thankfully we do also have a cousin who has completed a Y-DNA test, so maybe between the two that will help provide some additional information.
Hopefully this will be another big success for DNA!
