Michael Mead – Revolutionary War Patriot

I have had a Patriot on my list for a couple of years now that I wasn’t able to find all the right proof for to satisfy the Daughters of the American Revolution proof standard. I knew he had to be the right person, but the right document was elusive and there were multiple people with the same name which added some confusion. Plus the DAR database had a Michael Mead, who looked correct, but stated that there were issues with the submission and this patriot could not be used. I think we have all of that cleared up as well, so this was a big find.

I ended up hiring a researcher in New York who had done some extensive research in the area where I believed Michael and his family lived. Yesterday I received an email back with the statement that “I don’t see how there can be any doubt” that this is the right family. It’s great when all the pieces fall together for some of these mysteries.

If this documentation looks valid, this should also be a Mayflower line that goes back to George Soule which would be one additional Mayflower passenger for my line. That was part of why I was so determined to prove Michael Mead as the father of Desiree Mead who married Daniel Livermore. Now, it’s time to just put the documentation together and hope that DAR accepts all the pieces.

As of now I have 12 Patriots proven, two in the queue at DAR (hopefully done soon) and then I have probably 4 more that should be pretty straightforward. Then there are a few that may take a bit more unraveling, and who knows what any more discoveries may find in places where I haven’t yet proven lineage back to the 1700’s.

If I can prove this line back to George Soule he would be the 11th Mayflower Passenger in my lineage. How fun!
