The research project on Cory’s ancestors in Wales has been received. So exciting! Research in Wales is tricky as it seems like there are just a few given names used and at points in history a patronymic surname system. In Wales this would have been Owen mab William, or Owen Son of William. Knowing that I didn’t have all the right tools to really dig into the data, I hired a researcher, and it was worth it.
At the conclusion of the project I can now identify the family of Cory’s 2X Great Grandfather Owen Williams back two additional generations and the family of Cory’s 2X Great Grandmother Margaret Owens also back two additional generations. From the perspective of the researcher due to the record availability and other things this is probably as far back as we can take the lines for now. More records may come up at a point in the future, but for now I think we have hit a stopping point.
My task now is to do the family writeup for Owen and for Margaret and get those biographies posted. Some sneak previews – there are some hard times in the family, which may help explain the move to the United States, and there are several “illegitimate” children which makes things interesting as well
Look for the full details on this family in a later post when I have a few minutes to write up all the details.
