Ontario Research – Strawn and Wintermute

Cory has one branch on his tree that spent some time in Canada between the Revolutionary War and about 1840. The Strawn and Wintermute families are tied to Cory’s Great Grandmother Garnet Peron Seibert and would be her great grandparents which makes them Cory’s 4X Great Grandparents. I hadn’t been able to find much information online for this family and really wasn’t sure where to look. I reached out to Ontario Ancestors – the Ontario Genealogical Society and they were able to provide me with some pieces that I needed to make family connections as well as some fantastic historical information on the Loyalist ancestors, the land grant process, the War of 1812 and even better what looks to be the reason the family then relocated into Illinois.

I’m not too far from putting together the biography for this family and I think you’ll enjoy their story. I am waiting a little bit in order to find the pieces from one other branch so that I have the paternal and maternal side of the story and then I have some great information to share.
