This post starts the documents on my maternal family. Carl Magnus (Charles, Charlie, CM) Anderson and Anna Louisa Nilsdotter (Nelson) are the parents of my Great Granfather Reuben Anderson. As always, if there is something incorrect, unclear or missing in what I have, I welcome corrections and additions. These documents are always a work in progress as new data sources are found or come online. Much of the research on this family has been done by a group of CM Anderson descendants and we have combined forces to put together some wonderful information. There are many good newspaper articles, and fabulous stories on their lives.
CM and Anna are both immigrants from Sweden. We know that CM was born in Flivik, Misterhult, Kalmar, Sweden. Anna was born in Nilseryd under Rotsla, Frödinge, Kalmar, Sweden.
One of the fun things we found in looking at this region of Sweden is that Astrid Lindgren, the author of Pippi Longstocking was from Vimmerby, which is in the same region of Sweden.
