Nicole’s long family history in Nebraska

I have so many things to say on the blog, that it’s sometimes hard to figure out where to start and what to say next. Sometimes, the decision is made easier when fun things arrive in the mail.

Yesterday I received another batch of family certificates from the Nebraska State Genealogical Society. They have a fun program that allows a person to submit their lineage records and receive certificates in one of three categories

  • First Family of Nebraska – Settled in Nebraska by 1867 – Nebraska became a state March 1, 1867, so these families were here before statehood
  • Pioneer Family of Nebraska – Settled in Nebraska between 1868 & 1879
  • Century Family of Nebraska – Settled in Nebraska by 100 years prior to current date

The Family Recognition Page on the Nebraska State Genealogical Society page has more information if anyone is interested.

I have two ancestors who are in the First Families – Thomas Patterson’s Family and John Pocock’s Family. Both of these are on Blanche Pocock Mauser’s line

I then have one family that qualifies for the Pioneer Family – The Johann Heinrich Dehning Family. This is the Meta Dehning Kallsen line

The remaining eight are all in the century family category – Charles Albright (Blanche Pocock Mauser, Ada Albright Pocock), CM Anderson (Reuben Anderson), George Clutter (Blanche Pocock Mauser, Ada Albright Pocock, Helen Clutter Albright), Gottlieb Munter (Robert Munter), Gottlob Mauser (Ben Mauser), Henry Kallsen (Walter Kallsen), James Bayne (Marjorie Bayne Munter), Luther Hagerdon (Gladys Anderson Hagerdon) and Heinrich Jacob Moeller (Ben Mauser, Anna Moeller Mauser).

For each of the branches I submitted one application for the earliest the line was in Nebraska. I also included husband and wife together if they came at roughly the same time. There is a fee for these, so there are limits to how carried away I get. If you’re counting that is a total of 12 branches of the family tree that have been in Nebraska for at least 100 years, and some since before statehood. This was fun! For at least 5 generations back in all directions the family has been in Nebraska – wow! Clicking each certificate will show it full size.

    1. Hi Troy! Happy you found me. Did you also see my post about JW’s civil war service? I recently found a picture of him from another relative, so I’ll be sharing that before too long too. So much fun stuff to find!
