USD 1812 Annual Meeting

A couple of weeks ago I attended my first annual meeting for the Daughters of the War of 1812. What a fantastic group of ladies.

As of right now, I have one proven 1812 veteran, another application pending processing and then I have two ancestors who we will have to use some indirect evidence to prove the relationships as so far no paper documents have been found that spell out that Henry Bayne was for sure the son of John Bayne or that his wife Elizabeth Gustin was for sure the daughter of Amariah Gustin. I’m sure we can prove them though, just may have to get a bit creative in the records.

The US Daughters of the War of 1812 have a really nice website and it sounds like if a person is in Washington DC that the museum them have is also worth the trip. At some point I’m going to have to make a trip to DC and spend some time there checking out all of the museums and headquarters for these lineage societies. It may take me weeks to see everything!
