We had an exciting moment in August at the Deuel County Fair. All the paperwork was filled out with Aksarben, and the Mauser family was awarded the Pioneer Farm Family. That means that a member of the family has lived on the same property for 100 years (or more). In this case we were able to recognize Gottlob Mauser’s original homestead property from 1898, the parcel where my parents live (1905) and where Grandma lives (1909). We didn’t fill out the paperwork to mark the exact 100 years as you can tell, and most of these properties are closer to the 125 than the 100. There is also a Heritage Farm award for parcels that remain in the same family for 150 years. We will see if the family is still on the same ground in 2050!
