It’s been a busy genealogy week here. I have some active things going with the Mayflower Society, Daughers of the American Revolution, National Society Descendants of American Farmers and a research project just completed on the Mauser line in Germany.
My entire genealogy research bug started when Grandpa Mauser was pretty sure that we must be connected to the inventors of the Mauser Rifle. I have finally found a way to research all of that information and we are back to the mid 1600’s in the research on our family branch which is so exciting.
With this most recent project we decided to look at the Peter Paul Mauser family tree and see where or if there was a common ancestor.
The findings are so interesting. As it turns out our family the the Peter Paul family line is very close geographically to our family and are only about 25 miles apart. At one point in the late 1790’s they are 5 miles apart. So looking at things geographically it looks promising as suspected.
One of the big differences is that my Mauser family line is in the Lutheran Church books. The Peter Paul Mauser line is all in the Catholic Church books. While the proximity and the surname suggest that there could be a family connection, it must be yet futher back in time. Who know if we will ever find the common ancestor as it doesnt’ look promising right now, but anything can happen 🙂
