I feel like the thing that got me started in genealogy work was the question Grandpa Murl had – how are the Big Springs, NE Mausers related to Peter Paul and Wilhelm Mauser, the inventors of the Mauser rifle.
When I started, I got stuck in how to research German records in addition to the time and cost to do so. So, I took a break from genealogy in general and from that project specifically.
I’ve now been able to work with a researcher to find information on the roots of my branch of the Mauser tree and we are revisiting the question of our connection to Peter and Wilhelm. The Mauser rifle brothers were in Stuttgart, Germany and my Mauser branch was about a 30 minute drive away from Stuttgart in towns like Burgstall, Affalterbach, Siegelsberg and others.
It will be fun to see what if any connection we can find! The online trees that I see don’t show a connection, but not all online trees are well researched, so unless they have sources do your own work.
