This had been a stopping point in the tree for a while, and thanks to some expanded research the origin of the Perlette family before coming to the United States has been located.
Cory’s Paternal Grandma Geneva was born a Perlette. Her Great Grandfather and Cory’s 3X Great Grandfather John Perlette arrived in the United States in 1852 in New York. The only information he ever included on records was that he was from Germany, which is a big place to search.
Some newspaper research identified his brother as Frederick Perlette. When researching Frederick, he included Schweina as a place of origin when he arrived at the Port of New York and some of his children listed their father’s birthplace as Schweina.
Tree Tidings Genealogy helped me then search the German church records and sure enough – in Schweina he found records for John Perlette and his brother Frederick who were listed in the family record as left for America. Success!
Work is now progressing to determine how far back we can trace the line and as I have more information, I’ll share it here.
