In my prior post I was headed off to a county courthouse in Illinois searching for a land transaction for Daniel Phillips Bounty Land hoping to narrow down which Daniel Phillips is the correct one, and help tie together the pieces. I spent an entire day in the courthouse searching land records (there isn’t an online version, nor are they categorized at all by section so it is a totally manual search).
So far I haven’t found a transaction for a Daniel Phillips or his grandson Adelbert Phillips, but a manual search takes time and I didn’t make it through all of the records. I’ll be headed back again sometime after the first of the year and hoping to find the transaction for Daniel Philips. I am looking for a needle in a haystack, but thankfully Phillips isn’t a common name in the area, so that does help!
