As I was searching for information on Cory’s 3X Great Grandfather Daniel Neff I had run into a challenge. I couldn’t find any specific information on Daniel’s parents. I had a birth place from his obituary, I had a civil war pension file, and a few odds and ends, but nothing that mentioned his parents. Daniel’s daughter Susan married Frank Hastings, their daughter Hannah married John Perlette, and their daughter is Cory’s Grandma Geneva Perlette Storer.
I couldn’t find much online, so I hired a local researcher, Dana Palmer to go to the local archives and see what she could find. Dana worked through a few challenges but we found Daniel’s parents! Charles Neff and Catherine Dewitt. I’ll put together my bio for them a bit later that explains some of the detail. The really exciting part of that find was that I now tied into a proven Neff family line that has been researched and documented by the Neff Family Association and published in Neff News. This branch of the Neff family goes back to Switzerland and the first documented person in the line was born in 1578. How exciting!
Watch for more updates on this family line as I have some time to get the documents put together for the other 3X Great Grandparents in my tree. I’m working my way through slowly but surely 🙂
