Robert Robinson – Civil War Veteran

Robert Robinson is Cory’s 3X Great Grandfather and a Civil War Veteran. His line to Robert is through his Grandfather Lavern Storer. Laverns’s parents are Walter Storer and Susie Williams. Walter’s parents are Robert Storer and Sarah Robinson, Sarah’s parents are Robert Robinson and Sarah Ann Bell.

Robert was born in Indiana in 1829.

On August 11, 1862 he enlisted in the 126th Illinois Infantry. He lists his age as 33 years old, 5’9″” and the records say he has dark complexion, dark hair and brown eyes. He enlisted from Edington, Rock Island County, IL for an initial period of 3 years. His role is listed as wagoner.

This infantry unit was engaged in the Siege of Vicksburg. Other than that it looks like they had light skirmishing and were mostly a rear echelon role.

He was discharged on September 4, 1864 at Pine Bluff Arkansas for a disability.

When the National archives are servicing records again I will order the service record and pension record for Robert and find out the specifics of the injury from the pension record.
